분사 - 분사구문의 주의할 용법
- 1. 분사구문을 부정할 때는 분사 앞에서 not, never를 붙여서 쓴다.
Because he doesn't have a break time, he is tired.
⇒ Not having a break time, he is tired. (쉬는 시간을 갖지 않았기 때문에, 그는 피곤함을 느낀다.)
As I've never seen her before, I didn't recognize her.
⇒ Never having seen her before, I didn't recognize her.(그녀를 본적이 없었기 때문에, 나는 그녀를 알아보지 못했다.)
2. 뜻을 분명히 하기 위해서 접속사를 그대로 남기기도 한다.
If compared to China, Korea is very small.
⇒ If Korea is compared to China, Korea is very small.(중국과 비교한다면, 한국은 매우 작다.)
Though if I like to dance, I'm not a good dancer.
⇒ Though if liking to dance, I'm not a good dancer.(춤추는 것을 좋아하지만, 나는 훌륭한 댄서는 아니다.)
3. 분사구문의 의미상 주어가 주어와 다르면 생략하지 않는다.
Because it was rainy, we stayed at home.
⇒ It being rainy, we stayed at home.(비가 왔기 때문에, 우리는 집안에 머물렀다.)
As there was no bus service, I had to walk to my house.
⇒ There being no bus service, I had to walk to my house.(버스가 오지 않아서, 나는 집까지 걸어갔다.)
4. With + 명사 + 현재(과거)분사 : [～하면서]로 해석되는 동시동작을 나타낸다.
She left the house with TV turning on.(그녀는 TV를 켜 놓은 채로 집을 떠났다.)
He was standing with his arms crossed.(그는 팔짱을 낀 채로 서 있었다.)
